Overview
The academic program
of Shrine of the Sacred Heart School includes the core subjects
required by the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the Maryland State
Board of Education.
Shrine of the Sacred Heart School provides a supportive faith
community in order to help students attain spiritual values. All
students have daily instruction in religion and are expected
to participate in all liturgical celebrations, prayer, and religious
activities.
Catholic students prepare for the sacraments in religion classes
according to the guidelines established by Shrine of the Sacred
Heart parish.
Each grade has library classes, art, music, physical education,
and Spanish. In addition, students in grades 1-8 have computer
classes.
Archdiocesan approved standardized testing for achievement and
aptitude takes place in October in grades 2 through 8. Tests
are machine scored and results are returned to the school. A
copy of the results is sent to the parent or guardian.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled at the end of the first
and second trimesters. Conferences may also be scheduled
whenever the teacher or parent has a concern.
Grades
Report cards are distributed on a trimester basis. Parents
in Grades 1 to 8 have access to their child’s academic
progress through the Power School program as well as well as
the communication in the Thursday Envelope. Dates when
