Emergency Closings and Openings

Highlights:

• Listen to WBAL AM (1090) for broadcasting on school closings and late openings.
• We follow the Baltimore County School System. We are not in the Hereford Zone.
• PreK and K do attend school on days we are delayed

In the event of a severe storm or other emergencies, radio station WBAL AM (1090), the official station, will broadcast all school closings and late openings.  Although located in Baltimore City, Shrine of the Sacred Heart School will follow the emergency closings and late openings for Baltimore County only.  We are not part of the Hereford zone.  Hot weather closings will be at the discretion of the Principal.

Whenever there is a question about school closings or late openings, listen to Radio Station WBAL.  Do not call the school, parish office, teachers, radio station, or the Archdiocesan Office. 

In case of late openings, just add the announced delayed opening time to the first bell (7:50AM).  In case of early closings, subtract the time from the normal dismissal time (2:55PM).  All grades, Pre-Kindergarten-8, follow the same regulation.

A Radio/TV announcement of “No Morning Kindergarten” does not apply to our Kindergarten or Pre-Kindergarten Full-Day Programs.
